It is a truly ironic fact of our society that except for the people at the bottom and the people at the top, there is not a whole lot of charitable donation going on. After all, of all of the middle class people who could help out to a pretty significant extent, a significant majority of them choose not to do so. While five, ten, twenty dollars every so often would mean next to nothing to a person whose income is strong, it can make a world of difference to a person who is in dire straits.
That is what charities do. They find the people who are the most in need of being helped out, and they help them until there is just no more help left to give. Whether it be Habitat for Humanity helping people to build their homesteads or any soup kitchen you can think of keeping the homeless fed, the entire natureof a charitable organization is to do good in the lives of the type of people who probably have not experienced a lot of good things in their lives.
Charities are an incredibly good part of society, not just because they give people who were born into bad situations a little bit of help to rise above their origins, but also because they help our society to be more than just a race between the people who are at the top. While everybody has lots of opportunities, not everybody even thinks about going after them. Good charities do more than just give- they help the people who need to be inspired to look above where they have been. For this, hopefully there will never be a time without charities.
